And then there were five: Experienced hand joins the team in NSW (cont)
Legalise Cannabis got two over the line at last November’s Victorian Election giving us a strong hand. Rachel Payne is now well into her four-year term representing the South-Eastern Metropolitan region and has utilised her strong background in advocacy and campaigning to progress the Party’s agenda for cannabis reform.
David Ettershank is the second of our Victorian MPs representing the Western Metropolitan Region where he has lived for over 30 years. David has a compelling personal perspective of Victoria’s antiquated cannabis laws, and as a long term recreational and therapeutic cannabis consumer is determined to see it legalised and destigmatised.
Sophia Moermond is one of two Legalise Cannabis MPs elected to parliament in WA back in 2021 and are half-way through their terms. Sophia has a solid background in nursing and naturopathy which informs her holistic approach to health. She approaches cannabis from both a health perspective as well as an environmental one.
Last but by no means least is Sophia’s colleague in the WA Parliament, Doctor Brian Walker. Since his election representing the East Metropolitan Region, Brian has worked tirelessly to educate and advise other members of parliament on the benefits and safety of medicinal cannabis. He is not one to shy from controversy, and his experience as a medical practitioner in five countries gives him a unique perspective on cannabis reform.
