Although falling well short of the commitment hinted at by former Premier Daniel Andrews earlier this year, the Party is working with what they have to get this across the line in the right form and the shortest time possible. LCVIC MP David Ettershank said: “We have indicated how bitterly disappointed we are…..and will no doubt be involved in many negotiations with the Government in the coming months”.
It didn’t take long for the NSW Party – who are also championing a shake-up of RDT laws in their state – to react with a succinct letter to NSW Roads Minister John Graham expressing their disappointment with the Victorian outcome and looking to ensure that avoidable roadblocks in getting this done in New South Wales are, in fact, avoided. “Given that there already exists an extensive amount of research in this area, the position of our NSW Party is that this (Victorian) trial is unnecessary and will only prolong the suffering and discrimination against medical cannabis patients,” LCNSW MP Jeremy Buckingham said.
LCNSW is optimistic that the path to RDT changes in their state will be less problematic.
